Who are we?

Malverde are a specialist consultancy helping financial institutions strengthen and optimise financial crime controls.

We’re not generalist consultants. We build our reputation on hands on experience of building and configuration systems and solutions to effectively and efficiently manage financial crime risk.

We channel this expertise by providing both software products and traditional advisory services to our clients.

Fraud & Financial Crime

Complying with financial crime regulation is not only expensive, it also does little to reduce financial crime. At Malverde, we’re convinced there is a better way - by aligning technology and operations with risk, financial institutions can be more effective and efficient at reducing financial crime.

Data is everything. Yet businesses regularly suffer from critical issues in compliance, customer experience and elsewhere as a result of failings in data. Poorly designed data pipelines, inaccurate models and opaque processes are commonplace. We believe true understanding of data is fundamental to almost all business applications, but that this understanding is surprisingly rare.

Our co-founders all started their careers in data, which has underpinned the work they’ve done across various domains and sectors. Doing data well revolutionises businesses.

We started Malverde to make true expertise on data and financial crime readily accessible to our clients.

Meet the Team

Anaïs Westergaard

CONSULTANT
Anaïs has advised clients in fraud prevention and financial crime, spanning retail, financial services and internal investigation. She holds a BSc in Criminology from the University of Bath, where her dissertation examined the capability of banks to disrupt and respond to financial fraud in digital ecosystems.
Christian Ocklind

CONSULTANT
Christian is a Data Scientist with a background in Computer Science and brings additional coding and development expertise to the team. He supports the creation and application of technical solutions to help tackle financial crime.
Daniel Bryan

CONSULTANT
Dan has a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Warwick with a strong focus on combinatorics, graph theory and boolean functions.
He uses this strong technical background to support clients as well as the development of malverde products.
Eoin O'Connor

DIRECTOR
Eoin has led projects at a range of financial services institutions to review and improve financial crime controls. He is committed to delivering meaningful change that maximises risk mitigation and operational efficiency.
Ethan Bryan

CONSULTANT
Ethan specialises in customer and payment screening and has helped develop malverde’s screening test data, as well as execute assessments of screening effectiveness at clients.
Ethan holds an MMath in Mathematics from the University of Nottingham.
Jan Szkulepa

INTERN
Jan is a Data Science MSc student with hands-on experience using data and models to inform decision-making under uncertainty. Jan is supporting malverde product development as part of a summer internship.
Lisa Andrushkevich

CONSULTANT
Lisa is a Data Scientist with a background in mathematics and AI, combining strong analytical skills with a practical approach to business problem-solving. Experienced in extracting insights from data to support decision-making and improve processes.
Nabhan Nadeem

CONSULTANT
Nabhan is an agile problem-solver and self-taught programmer, passionate about driving innovation at the intersection of engineering, software, and predictive analytics.
Rich Elliot-Cooke

FOUNDER
Richard is a financial crime prevention SME, with a particular focus on the delivery and optimisation of AML, sanctions and fraud solutions. He has led change initiatives with major financial institutions around the globe to improve both the efficiency and effectiveness of financial crime controls through the use of technology and analytics.
Simon McMahon

FOUNDER
Simon is passionate about creating effective controls against Financial Crime, with a focus on using data, technology and analytics to improve prevention and detection of Fraud, Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing, as well as compliance with Financial Sanctions.
Spaden Elmhirst

FOUNDER
Spaden specializes in financial crime technology implementation. He has expert knowledge in systems design for fraud, AML and sanctions compliance and has implemented such systems across a range of industry sectors.
Stuart Gray

SENIOR MANAGER
Stuart brings a wealth of experience in financial crime, payments, automation and KYC to the malverde team. His background in consulting and technology transformation is invaluable in supporting our clients to optimise their financial crime technology.⁣
Tom Saminaden

MANAGER
Tom has over 10 years experience working with financial services, central government and law enforcement clients to design and implement technologies for detecting and investigating fraud and financial crime. Tom specialises in using advanced analytics technology such as entity resolution, machine learning and agentic AI to detect financial crime effectively and efficiently.
